Wait, the problem for this news outlet is the spread of disease and NOT the fact that they got said disease from fucking a donkey?!

For the 20th time, RABIES, it had rabies, transmittable rabies. If a dog, cat, racoon, horse, cow, donkey, really any mamal has rabies it’s going to die a slow and painful death.
According to the article that you provided, local authorities ordered the animal’s death, not for the sake of the animal, but to prevent more spreading of rabies to people. The only reported way that it had been spreading rabies is through apparent repeated intercourse with teenagers. In which case, the animal was slaughtered to prevent more people from having intercourse with it.
@cheshireinthemiddle even though in this case the only rabies apparently came from people having intercourse the fact the animal has rabies is too high a risk.
For instance if there are mosquito or any number of bugs that bite the donkey they could spread it to humans. Also the donkey having any level of contact with a human puts that human at risk of catching the rabies. When an animal has rabies there is very few ways of ensuring a 0% chance of that rabies spreading.
Also rabies has been connected to Psychosis and Mania in the later stages of the disease, meaning even though this donkey was not acting aggresively yet it was just a matter of time.
/I’m not sure on this bit/ I’m pretty sure the rabies vaccine they have has no affect on somebody who has fully manifested the disease and can only save somebody who was only recently infected meaning once you’ve had it long enough to pass it on you’re basically screwed (if you pardon the pun) which means in this case I’m pretty sure the Donkey is beyond the point of saviour, slaughtering the animal is a quick and painless (relatively) death and also protects the people around it.
Rabies is only spread through certain contact. Just being around the animal and petting it isn’t enough. As long as it hasn’t yet gotten aggressive, you can even live in the same house as a pet infected with rabies. Just gotta watch out for its mouth.
They could have easily kept people from getting rabies from that particular donkey by simply locking it in a pen. It isn’t a mouse. It won’t get away. And it didn’t seem, at least from the article, that they were concerned for how the donkey felt, so it’s pain wasn’t of concern. They just didn’t want more people(because at least 15 already had) having intercourse with this animal and getting rabies as a result.
It’s probably in their culture to fuck donkeys. Like in Columbia. The reason it’s not being treated like a big deal is because people do it all the damn time. It’s fucking disgusting but people do it on a nation wide scale in some cases.
